Notes From The Studio Email Archive #1 May 2023

Here you can read an email that went out on May 12th 2023. I send an email newsletter entitled 'Notes From The Studio' on every second and last Friday of the month (give or take) These are filled with interesting observations, thoughts and recommendations to inspire you and fill your cup. If you would like to receive and email like this every fortnight please sign up.

It's been a while...how are you?

How to stay in touch when the world is moving so fast is a regular problem in my life. Those close friends that I only see once a year but I would still consider to be my best friends, can you relate? I haven't ever emailed about my artwork on a regular basis. It's not that I don't want to stay in touch and share all the wonderful things I have been doing in my studio. It's just the weeks slip by and turn into months and just like those friendships half a year or more has passed. I just wanted to say that just because you haven't heard from me in a while doesn't mean I don't think of you. So, this is me touching in with a new intension. I will send you a Note From My Studio on every second and last Friday of the month with things I have seen, made, read and heard. I think these are things you will love and find interesting and I would love to hear from you in return so please do reply. If you would rather not get my newsletter then you can find an unsubscribe button at the the end of this email.

You Are So Loved. Pocket Tokens. Engraved Glass to remind your loved ones how much you are thinking of them.

I saw this and thought of you...

Last week I took a day off with my family and headed in to Bristol City Centre. We visited Arnolfini Art Gallery which was showing Gary Fabian Miller's Adore. I felt a deep connection to this exhibition and came away feeling moved and inspired. Since then it keeps popping up in conversations so thought I would share it with you. Through his camera-less photography Gary Fabian Miller explores themes of light, memory and place. He shares the exhibition with other makers, thinkers and writers who have inspired his artistic practice. This sharing gives the exhibition a depth and soul that I haven't seen in a while. It made me realise how important it is to hold space for others as a way of enriching our own lives. If you can get to see it I would thoroughly recommend it. Otherwise find out about his work here On until 28th May, Arnolfini, Narrow Quay, Bristol. Open Tues-Sun 11am-6pm Free to enter.

The 100 Feathers Project is finished in so far as I have engraved 100 glass feathers.. I have come to learn how beautifully symbolic feathers are over the years of making them. I love that they resonate so much with individual stories. What do they mean to you? Read more about The 100 Feathers Project in my blog (compendium of ideas)
